Variety Cruises, a family-owned small-ship cruise operator, is expanding its European offerings for 2025. The company is introducing seven new itineraries to take your clients to Italy, Malta, Croatia, Albania, Slovenia and Montenegro. These cruises, set to begin in May 2025, are designed to provide intimate experiences away from crowded tourist areas.
“There is so much our beautiful continent has to offer travelers, although we’ve seen first-hand the detrimental impact overtourism and mega cruises can have on a destination. It is imperative that travel companies offer more responsible options to protect these beloved places and their communities,” said Filippos Venetopoulos, CEO of Variety Cruises. “With less than 50 passengers on each sailing, these new itineraries provide visitors an opportunity to explore established destinations in new ways only possible by small ship, and discover the charm of up-and-coming countries like Albania that offer similar experiences as their more popular neighbors without the crowds,” he added.

Travelers who book by Nov. 15, 2024, can receive up to 15 percent off their fare. These new offerings complement Variety’s existing Greek itineraries, where the company is headquartered. Variety’s flagship vessels, the Variety Voyager and Callisto, will serve the new routes.
Among the new cruises is the Sicilian Sunsets & Amalfi Delights, an 8-day journey from Malta that explores Sicily and Southern Italy. It includes visits to Agrigento’s ancient Greek ruins and Pompeii and a wine-tasting experience.
The 8-day La Dolce Vita cruise begins in Naples and includes stops in Capri, Sicily, and Malta. Passengers can explore Taormina’s Corso Umberto, ascend Mount Etna and visit Gozo’s ancient megalithic monuments.
For those interested in the Adriatic, the Yachting in Albania & Croatia cruise offers an 8-day journey through Croatia, Albania and Montenegro. It features wine tasting in Korcula and olive oil production insights in Montenegro.
The Venetian Horizons cruise sails on a round trip from Venice, visiting Slovenia and Croatia. Highlights include exploring Piran’s medieval architecture and Ljubljana, Europe’s Green Capital since 1991.
Two itineraries, Adriatic Jewels: From Venice to Dubrovnik and its reverse, offer exploration of Venice’s canals, Croatia’s coastal towns and Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor.
Variety Cruises, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2024, provides access to destinations often unreachable by larger vessels. This approach aligns with growing traveler interest in less crowded, more authentic experiences. The company typically hosts around 50 guests per sailing with a 20-person crew, focusing on in-depth, community-driven experiences while minimizing environmental impact.
