Ahead of its 2024-25 Antarctic season, Aurora Expeditions, a pioneer in responsible small-ship expedition travel, has announced a new maximum passenger capacity for its voyages to the polar regions.
Effective immediately, the company will now travel with no more than 130 passengers across its fleet of purpose-built small ships visiting Antarctica and the Arctic, including the Greg Mortimer, Sylvia Earle and the recently launched Douglas Mawson, sailing in December 2025.
“With passenger landing limits in Antarctica and some areas of the Arctic, we wanted to reinforce our commitment to providing the small ship experiences our passengers know us for, with more time off ship and more immersive activities. This change solidifies our position as one of the most intimate small ship offerings in our class for the polar regions,” said Aurora Expeditions’ CEO, Michael Heath in a media announcement. “We also recognize our responsibility to protect and preserve the remote places we travel to, and we are proud to be one of the few companies visiting Antarctica and the Arctic with under 150 passengers.”
Big Savings in 2024-25 Season
Aurora Expeditions’ 24-25 season commences this October, running until early April 2025. Aurora Expeditions also recently released its Antarctica 25-26 season, featuring a variety of Antarctic voyages across its three purpose-built ships, including new departures to East Antarctica and the Ross Sea from Hobart, Australia and Dunedin, New Zealand.
In addition, Aurora is offering a new Small Ships, Big Adventures sale offering up to 20 percent on select 2024-2025 expedition itineraries to the Arctic and to Antarctica. Travelers can get the discount when they book now through Sept. 30, 2024 for itineraries to Antarctica during the winter of 2024-25 and itineraries in the Arctic in 2025. In addition to 20 percent savings, they’ll also receive an air credit of $2,000 for all Antarctica sailings or $1,500 for all Arctic sailings.
